Ahora claro, es posible que te estés preguntando ¿qué es un programa de afiliados? Según la Wikipedia, un programa de afiliados consiste en “usar tu propio website o blog para mandar tráfico a otro y cobrar un % de la venta realizada”. O sea que la clave en general es producir un resultado (una venta, una acción, un referido, según cada programa) y cobrar una pequeña comisión por ello.
Uno de los programas de afiliados más conocidos en Amazon, otro ejemplo en Mercado Libre.
Otra buena idea es CJ.com o Clickbank. Ambos son una especie de supermercado de programas de afiliados, en los que se puede buscar programas para promocionar de acuerdo con la temática de tu website o blog.
Otra forma de buscar productos o servicios para promocionar es, por supuesto, usar Google para realizar una búsqueda por “programa afiliados”.
No todos los websites son buenos para ganar dinero con un programa de afiliados, si bien es necesario contar con un público receptivo a las compras online, no siempre se debe tener mucho tráfico pues hay micro nichos con un público muy receptivo que dejan mucha utilidad por venta, mientras que hay productos con poca utilidad que necesitan enormes cantidades de tráfico para compensar.
Los productos o servicios promovidos tiene que tener una estrecha relación con los objetivos del site y del target. En un sitio de viajes es posible vender pasajes aéreos, reservas de autos y de hoteles, paquetes turísticos, guías de viajes, seguros de viajes y hasta valijas, pero no es un buen lugar para promocionar cursos de finanzas, por poner un ejemplo.
Vender tu Propio Producto
Esta variante tiene varias posibilidades: vender un producto de tu propia creación, conseguir productos directo del fabricante y ofrecerlos online (via MercadoLibre o eBay, por ejemplo), vender infoproductos, como por ejemplo ebooks, cursos, etc.
Esta modalidad tiene grandes ventajas pues, al ofrecer tu propio producto, por un lado te posiciona como una experta y por el otro, ganas más con cada venta.
Una consecuencia directa de tener tu propio producto es que puedes apalancarte con tu propio programa de afiliados, ganarás menos por cada producto vendido por un tercero, pero crearás más puntos de ventas.
Un consejo, no pierdas el tiempo inventando la rueda, ya fue inventada y está a tu disposición. En vez de crear tu propio software para gestionar a los afiliados, usa un tercero como ClickBank que administra todo el sistema: expone tu producto a otros interesados en promocionarlo, crea un link rastreable, provee estadísticas para ambas partes, cobra las ventas, paga a tus afiliados y te paga luego a ti.
Otra alternativa que puedes utilizar si tienes infoproductos o libros es ofrecerlos a través de Lulu, Bubok o Libros en Red.
Obtener Beneficios por Publicidad
Si tienes un website o blog bien establecido, con una temática definida y público más o menos fiel, entonces puedes ofrecer espacios de publicidad, básicamente es la fuente de ingresos de cualquier negocio editorial (revistas, diarios, etc.)
Hay dos formas básicas de obtener ingresos por publicidad:
- Integrar una ad network, por ejemplo Google Adsense
- Vender la publicidad en forma directa (avisos comerciales, esponsoreos y patrocinios de alguna sección de tu website, publicidad en tu Newsletter, etc)

Esta es una opción bastante nueva que requiere tener ciertos conocimientos de marketing y posicionamiento en internet pues hay que saber reconocer las oportunidades.
Hay en este momento un gran mercado de venta de sólo dominios o websites o blogs en funcionamiento, dominio incluido. Este mercado se lo conoce como virtual real estate (VRE), en inglés la compra y venta de propiedades se denomina real estate, de ahí que la compra y venta de websiste para su desarrollo o reventa se llame VRE.
Personalmente he comenzado a hacer experimentos con esta alternativa comprando dominios que tengan al menos 2 años de antigüedad para desarrollarlos y quedármelos o volver a venderlos ya posicionados.
Valor económico de un website/blog
Un website tiene valor económico por su nombre de dominio (si el nombre tiene palabras claves es mejor), por su antigüedad (más antiguo mejor), su posicionamiento, cantidad de tráfico que recibe, por la cantidad de enlaces entrantes, porque no haya sido penalizado anteriormente por Google, por si ya está generando ingresos y, naturalmente por el sector del mercado al que esté enfocado.
Para que tengas una idea en esta misma semana he visto comprar y vender websites desde us$35 a us$15,000 (una página de ventas para un producto digital de us$ 34,90) ; pero anteriormente he visto varias subasta terminar en us$ 150,000 y eso que dejamos muy atrás la burbuja de Internet del año 2000.
En conclusión:
Estos cinco modelos de negocios no son los únicos posibles online, además es posible combinar varios modelos, pues tener múltiples fuentes de ingresos siempre es mejor que tener uno sola.
